Unilever Focused Technician- 1st Shift in Jonesboro, Arkansas

Title of role: Focused Technician

Pay: $35.88- 37.44 per hour, paid weekly

Base wage- $35.88 hour

After successful evaluation period, wage increases to $37.44

The Focus Technician (FT) is a member of the cell that directs, coaches, and leads other Technical Operators across all shifts. FT works as the liaison between manufacturing and maintenance departments and accountable for the delivery of the proper maintenance to the equipment on the manufacturing site. Established standard operational and safety procedures will be followed, employees will apply technical knowledge and skills, and occasionally may be required to modify standard practice and procedures.

Their focus is to lead the Maintenance and Production team in continuous improvements activities around Budgeting, Preventative Maintenance, Focused Improvement, and development of Maintenance Technician and Operators engaged to optimize the running and maintenance of equipment within the factory.

    What You’ll Do:

  • Work as the liaison between manufacturing and maintenance departments and accountable for the delivery of the proper maintenance to the equipment on site

  • Technical -Knowledge and application of technical skills to operate, maintain, improve and repair equipment. This allows production targets to be met safely, at the right level of quality and on time.

  • Perform root cause/breakdown analysis using the emergency work-order (EWO) process and responsible for tracking F-Tags to resolution.

  • Utilize problem-solving skills to diagnose and fix issues efficiently while using Unilever Manufacturing Standards (UMS) tools.

  • Understand the principles of mechanism and motion and be able to conduct changeovers, basic repairs and adjustments (e.g., Cams, slides, bearings, belts and pulleys).

  • Accountable for the maintenance productivity of all shifts. This requires contacting appropriate resources for issue resolution, providing coaching and direction on breakdown RCA’s, maintenance EWO’s, and interfacing with facilities and engineering support.

  • Continuously improve the processes and machinery through various principles of Lean and Just-in-time production to reduce cost, improve quality, and improve the ergonomic safety of our team members.

  • Responsible for monitoring inventory of spare parts and supporting the maintenance planner(s) with updating spare parts inventory policies.

  • Responsible for continuous improvement and driving loss reduction including deployment, execution, and reporting KPI’s for Run-to-Standard and any other related meetings.

  • Be a champion of the Unilever Manufacturing Standards (UMS) Run to Standard (R2S) 18-week sprints for production lines to define and restore standards and basic conditions, establish governance to sustain them, attack chronic losses with kaizen events, and capture learnings and know how to develop our people.

  • Development of Maintenance standards (SMP: Standard Maintenance Procedures, Machine Ledger, PM calendar, Tag Management Process, etc.)

  • Perform various maintenance to equipment, including training of Maintenance Technician, Line Leads and Machine Operators on basic maintenance skills.

  • Must be flexible within pattern of shift work to accommodate factory shutdowns, training courses etc.

    What You’ll Need To Succeed

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • 3 + years’ experience working in a Fast-Moving Consumer Goods Company Manufacture in leadership and technical skills.

  • 3 + years’ experience working in a Fast-Moving Consumer Goods Company Manufacture experience in maintenance.

  • Strong experience in analytical problem solving.

  • Strong interpersonal skills working with peers, other managers, and hourly employees.

  • Experience working in a high-performance team-based work environment.

  • Demonstrated strong mechanical ability, ability to operate common shop equipment (mill, lathe, band saw, etc.), ability to be innovative, show initiative, and self-direction.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage time, resources, in a professional manner, ability to communicate clearly, reading, math, and writing skills, and ability to adapt to changing priorities.

  • Demonstrate proficiency with technologies, tools, mathematical skills to job-specific tasks and machines common to Unilever.

  • Maintain inventory, PLC Troubleshooting, use of computerized Maintenance Management System.
